Once your bot is trained and styled, putting it on your website takes about a
minute. UpChat gives you a single snippet to paste — and options for Google Tag
Manager if that's how you manage scripts.
Where this fits: This is Step 6 of the
Quick Start checklist. Test your bot first with the
Where to find your embed code
Open your bot and go to Management → Bot Details, then scroll to the
Embed Code section. You'll see three install methods as tabs:
- Direct — paste a script straight into your site's HTML.
- Google Tag Manager — install via a GTM Custom HTML tag.
- Manual GTM — a variation for hands-on GTM setups.

Option 1 — Direct install (most common)
- On the Direct tab, click Copy embed code.
- Paste the script into your website's HTML, **just before the closing
`</body>` tag**.
- Publish your site and refresh — your widget appears in the corner.
The snippet is self-contained: it creates the chat container and loads the widget
using your unique `botId`, so there's nothing else to configure.
Option 2 — Google Tag Manager
If you manage scripts through GTM, switch to the Google Tag Manager tab and
follow the steps to add the code as a Custom HTML tag that fires on all pages.
Use Manual GTM if you prefer to wire the tag up yourself.
💡 Tip: Using a specific CMS? We have step-by-step install guides — including
— in the Installation topic.
Verifying it works
After publishing, visit your site and look for the widget button in the corner.
Click it, ask a question, and confirm your bot responds. If you don't see it:
- Make sure the snippet is on the page (before `</body>`).
- Clear your cache / hard-refresh.
- Check that you pasted the code on the pages you expected.
